The Rotary Club of Ashburn, VA is pleased to welcome this week's second special guest speaker, Former Rotary International (RI) Scholar Katherine Mackey who will lead an informal discussion about her Rotary experience.  Join us Thursday, November 3 for an interesting discussion on what she learned and how Rotary deeply influenced the woman she is today.

Katherine was sponsored by the Research Triangle Park, North Carolina Rotary Club; and through an unusual and exciting turn of events, ended up representing RI for 3 years in 3 different countries: Switzerland, Spain, and Mexico.  Be sure to ask Katherine how she came to live in a Mexico City Opus Dei Nunnery (and why it didn't last for long) and what life was like on an RI health project with the Totonac Indians.

When Katherine returned to the US, she became an actress in DC and NYC for 14 years, and appeared in over 50 Commercials; TV programs such as Sopranos, West Wing, the Wire, and Law and Order SVU and Criminal Intent; and Films such as Sex in the City, Step Up, and Syriana.

Today Katherine is deeply engaged with her community.  She is the Founder of Virginia Network, is a Veterans advocate, and serves as a Board Member of General Electric's Veterans Network  Over the past 20 years she has been a guest speaker at 175 Rotary Clubs internationally.

Katherine enjoys motivational speaking; leads educational seminars in small businesses, corporations, and organizations; and is always delighted to collaborate with others in meaningful partnerships. She holds a B.A. from UNC-Chapel Hill, an M.A. from Georgetown University, and lives in Reston with her family.
